Just had one the other day at The Tar Pit on La Brea near Melrose. It was amazing! Best restaurant dessert I've had in the last few months.

I rarely check local boards outside of my area, being more of a Home Cooking Board and Cookware Board person, but...if it is bananas Foster you want and not the bananas Foster at a restaurant experience, it is a very simple thing to make at home...heat equal parts butter and brown sugar in a pan...it will quickly form the desired sauce. Throw in quartered bananas. Add liqueur and flame. I met the dish at Brennan's in Houston and figured, "Hey, I can do that." Now, 30 pounds heavier...

While I have not been, I would imagine that Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney ought to have a good rendition since the dish was invented at his Family's original restaurant, Brennan's in New Orleans.

i guess i better visit too, bananas foster and some gumbo and a po boy sure sounds like some good eats if it could be found in southern california.

While Taps does a good rendition, I much prefer Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. If you ever want to OD on Taps Bananas Foster, I suggest going during Sunday Brunch, when they make load of it fresh, and you can eat until your heart is content. Vanilla ice cream is readily available.
