Quick Eats Near Hotel Omni Mont-Royal

I'm travelling to Montreal on business and only have one night to explore some local eats. I'm staying at the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal. Are there any great (and fairly cheap) eats within walking distance that you'd recommend? I'm particularly fond of poutine :) Am open to all types of cuisines except Asian/Indian (as I get my fair share of these in Toronto). Thanks for your suggestions!

  1. No poutine, but right across the street from the Omni in the Best Western is Zawadeh, an excellent Lebanese restaurant. Because of the large Lebanese population in Montreal, there are so many more excellent Lebanese places here in Montreal compared to Toronto, so you might really enjoy this restaurant.

Interesting! Thanks for the tip...hopefully we get the chance to check it out :)

    2. Unfortunately the only decent and cheap food near the Omni is Asian! I'd highly recommend taking a bit of a walk up to St. Laurent and stopping at Schwartz's or there's even a Frites Alors which has decent poutine. All these might be around 15 mins walk down, first down Sherbrooke and then hang a left on St. Laurent. Also fairly close to the Omni - about 10 mins - south to Ste Catherine and east toward Atwater is Avesta, a really good Turkish restaurant.

The Omni is at Peel and Sherbrooke, no way you can walk to Frite Alors in 15 minutes, at least 30 min .
How cheap must your eats be ?
For one night in that part of town, I would recommend Taverne Dominion 1243 Metcalfe,
this discussion gives you a good idea of what to expect, casual and great food and drinks.

      2. Bumping this for update as I am heading to same spot with a few more days to enjoy food - prefer casual, fun fare for this trip!
