Growing herbs indoors
Dear cooks and gardeners,,
I am looking for advice from anyone who grows lots of herbs indoors, successfully.
I have read a book by Jamie Oliver, and he puts in handfuls of this and that----I think he is right! My mother grew lots of herbs indoors, but I can't remember her techniques.
So...Sun? Types of pots? Which herbs? Humidity?

I live near Chicago and I grow parsley, Thai basil, dill, thyme, rosemary, oregano, and tarragon indoors in 6" terra cotta pots. It's not unusual for me to provide supplemental artificial light in the wintertime. Be sure to give them lots of sun. Humidity isn't an issue, but I make sure the soil is never dry. Also, I used potting mix (lighter and drains better than potting or garden soil) as the growing medium.
