Gourmet burgers and now gourmet dogs.

  1. No shame in that! Dogs rock. When I was in Chicago over the summer, I waited in line for 45 minutes (which locals say is quick!) to eat at Hot Dougs, which is famous for there gourmet dogs and sausages. It was a great experience! Doug is extremely friendly and hands-on.

Did you get the french fries fried in duck fat? They have it only on weekends.

Sadly, no, as we went on a weekday. Maybe next time. I had the foie gras hot dog which was wonderful!!! My only issue was everything was served on a regular hot dog bun. I would think such gourmet meats would deserve a fancier wrapping.

I'm in Ohio and don't get to Chicago much. Every time I have gone there was a line out the door, around the block, and down the street.

The wait at Hot Doug's is worth it and the kibitzing with the locals in line can be fun. When the Chicago City Council had a ban on fois gras a few years back, Hog Doug's was the only restaurant to have been cited for serving it because they didn't hedge the name of it on the menu.

            Encased meats. Good for Blais.
