Kid-friendly lunch near Rt-78 between 287 and Parkway
Meeting up with a bunch of folks (6 of us total, kids included), looking for a place where we can get good food + hang out for a couple of hours. This is for the Sat after Thanksgiving + meeting one car that's travelling along Rt-78, so hoping for a place that's <5 (max 10 minutes) off of 78 between roughly Maplewood and Bridgewater.
Food requirements -- pretty straight-forward for this request. "American" (for whatever that means these days), upscale-diner, or gastro-pub. For this request - no Asian, place can have pizza, but can't just be a pizza place (we've got some folks not so good with the cheese...). It's lunch, so everything is sufficiently casual, I'm guessing at that hour, and for prices, let's say food roughly <$15/person.
Remember - we're more looking for a place that'll be comfortable for 6 of us so that we can talk (i.e. being able to hear each other kinda important), and decent food - but it certainly doesn't need to be an epic meal.
Thanks!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Ended up shifting directions a bit + a bit north on the Parkway -- at the State Street Grill in Bloomfield. A pretty good diner, which at the end of the day, worked out for everyone. http://www.statestreetgrill.com/

Try Chimney Rock Inn in Bridgewater http://www.chimneyrockinn.com/ Not too fancy but more than just pizza. There is also one in Gillette - I'm not sure how close that is to 78 - might want to check it out as well.
