Doughnut Plant---Is it just me or...?
I recently tried the Doughnut Plant. It was a place that I had long wanted to try. Everything I had heard about it had me convinced that one bite and I would be blown away---I would never feel the same way again about other doughnuts. Well...in reality, it turned out to be quite different than what I'd expected.
When we went, we encountered a short line and both got yeast doughnuts with vanilla bean glaze. The glaze was delicious. The doughnut itself was another story. It was tough and very chewy. I shouldn't have to fight with a doughnut! IMO, it should be easy to bite off a piece and easy to chew.
So...was my experience par for the course? Or did we hit it on an off-day? If so, should I try again? Are the cake doughnuts better? Your thoughts and feedback, please. Thanks!

i generally agree with you on their yeast donuts (i dislike them), some of their cake donuts are good and one of their yeast donuts is good, see my blog post with pics and review: http://www.lauhound.com/2010/11/donut...

The Donut Plant is good but I love their smaller, moister cake donuts. I like their bigger, fluffy yeast ones too but sometimes the texture isn't a crowd-pleaser. They're a little chewy. Do a search and you'll see that this topic is hotly debated.
