Too late to get a good turkey?

Divamac Nov 19, 2010 07:03 AM

My husband just volunteered me to cook T'day dinner for 12 and that, of course, means turkey. Had I known earlier, I would have placed my order for a heritage bird at Iowa Meats. Am I out of luck finding a decent bird in San Diego at this late date? Any suggestions?

I don't eat a lot of meat, but when I do I prefer non factory farmed i possible.

Henry's is selling free range birds for $1.49 a pound. No hormones or antibiotics.. and fresh not frozen. :)

Fantastic! I was in a panic this morning thinking of a pending turkey disaster!

As of Wed Henry's still had free range birds and Windmill Farms had 2 types listed in their circular

Have you talked to IMF? I've ordered late from them on a couple of ocassions and still ended up with a good bird.

I would call Homegrown Meats in LJ and check, if that doesn't work you might try Bristol Farms, Johnathon's, Jimbo's or Whole Foods.
