Too late to get a good turkey?

My husband just volunteered me to cook T'day dinner for 12 and that, of course, means turkey. Had I known earlier, I would have placed my order for a heritage bird at Iowa Meats. Am I out of luck finding a decent bird in San Diego at this late date? Any suggestions?

I don't eat a lot of meat, but when I do I prefer non factory farmed i possible.

  1. I would call Homegrown Meats in LJ and check, if that doesn't work you might try Bristol Farms, Johnathon's, Jimbo's or Whole Foods.

    1. Have you talked to IMF? I've ordered late from them on a couple of ocassions and still ended up with a good bird.

      1. As of Wed Henry's still had free range birds and Windmill Farms had 2 types listed in their circular

        1. Fantastic! I was in a panic this morning thinking of a pending turkey disaster!

          1. Henry's is selling free range birds for $1.49 a pound. No hormones or antibiotics.. and fresh not frozen. :)
