Ferdinand's in Hightstown
There was a terrific little restaurant on Rte 130 in Washington Township (Robbinsville area) called Ferdinand's. It was in a tiny little diner. It closed and I am told it has re-opened in the middle of Hightstown but I can't find any mention of it on the internet. Maybe they have a different name now?
I need to call and make reservations.
I read an obscure review for Fernandos Grille and was amazed. This is one of only a few great restaurants in this area. My husband and I have eaten in restaurants all over the world and recently moved to this area after living 20 minutes from NYC and dined in some of the world famous restaurants in the city.. How can you compare Mac & cheese and Fried Chicken served at Bistro Soleil , a restaurant we went to several times, to the quality of the food offered at Fernandos? The food is consistently good, and the kitchen meets personal tastes. The waitstaff is accommodating and very helpful and will do anything to make your dinner experience special. What more could you ask for in a small local restaurant?

Are you talking about this:
I also was surprised. I loved Fernando's when it was down in Robbinsville and was sorry to hear it had closed. Since I don't live in the area, I only found out after it closed and so of course had no way of knowing that they were going to re-open in Hightstown (much closer to where I visit!). I find it every bit as good as the old location, with a slightly larger menu. The service is terrific and the food is very good. I am looking forward to another visit next week.
re: Just Visiting
I went to Fernando's Grille for lunch a few weeks ago. The service was good and the food was very nicely prepared. I did think the pea soup had a bit too much of a cumin flair for my tastes, but I am not a fan of cumin. I had a salmon over rice pilaf that was very nicely done. I will give them another try.
