Red Sauce Italian for Dad's Bday ??

My Dad is a good ol' New Yorker and Chicken Parm lover. His 65th bday is coming up and we are all going to dinner to celebrate. We cant bring him to what we love, small plate italian with delicate flavors etc...we want something he will love but I cant stand to go to Carmines, Little Italy or something so touristy...Any ideas??

      Try Pietro's on 43rd between 2nd and 3rd.

Rossini's on E 38th St may be perfect. They even have opera singers on some nights. Lots of red sauce entrees, good quality, service and ambience.

Although, I have not been there in a few years I recall Grifone on E46st b/w 2nd and 3rd having a fine version of Chicken Parm. it is a little expensive for what it is but it might fit the bill for what you are looking for.
