Dinner with some corporate guys/family
Looking for a decent casual dining spot for a Saturday night dinner with some guys from our corporate office and my mom, dad, and wife. Total there will be 9 of us. Nothing fancy but something that would be considered "Phoenix" if you know what I mean. I want them to have a good time and some good food. Like I said, we will probably be in jeans and polos so nothing fancy. We are in the Southwest Valley so something in the Glendale to Downtown range would be good for us. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hm, "considered 'Phoenix'," no, I don't exactly know what you mean :) When I hear that I think you're asking for a recommendation to either Durant's or the Stockyard, and I think you could do better than either. You could do worse, as well. Is there a price range you're looking for?
I feel as if jeans and polos is hardly exclusionary in our casual city -- you would not get tossed out of any but a small handful of places -- and you wouldn't feel out of place at plenty of places known for good food. I might steer you toward:
The District, downtown at the Sheraton. Stylish, spacious, able to accommodate a party on the large side -- chef-driven comfort food, sources local produce and meats, yet not intimidating to a crowd of mixed palates. Go early, meet in the bar for happy hour.
Tarbell's, near the Biltmore. Perhaps not on the cutting edge of fine dining, but I feel as if it's a strong Phoenix standby and I have not been able to fault the service, space, or wine list there. Once again, upscale comfort food in a gracious setting.
I tell everyone to eat at Noca and at FnB if they have guests to impress, but both are better for smaller parties.
