Leonidas Chocolates at Costco!
I bought a 2 LB box of assorted Leonidas chocolates at Costco today for $16.99!! This sized box normally costs over $60! Unbelievable price. Besides Bernard Callebaut, these are my favourite chocolates (yes, even better than Godiva in my opinion)! Check it out!

According to this thread on Redflagdeals, the price of these chocolates dropped to $11.99 a few days ago. Just saw the posting today and recalled talk in this thread about them. If you bought them previously you should be able to get a price adjustment... Although, if they are out of stock at the location you are going to I am not sure how the price adjustment would work:

I bought some on the basis of the recs here, and I'm glad I did--delicious! It wasn't until I had eaten several, that I noticed that many had hazelnut flavours. After reading the box carefully, I saw that they were called "Pralines Leonidas". That should explain the abundance of hazelnut fillings. A bit disappointing, but still delicious.

It is funny that you say this because the reason I like Leonidas is because they are not as sweet as most brands. I do find that these Costco ones appear to be a little sweeter than usual, but it might just be the assortment since I usually choose only the dark, and the milk and white are certainly sweeter. Perhaps they are sweeter compared to other Belgian chocolates, but they are certainly nowhere near as sweet as your mainstream brands purchased at drugstores and the like.

Great deal, not on a great chocolate, too buttery and sweet for me without the intense chocolate flavor. beats most chocolates you can buy in a box in the states though.

Lets not overhype here! I bought a box and looking the the 1st 2 layers right now and it consists of plain milk and dark chocolate wafers (lots of them) and the rest have either chocolate or caramel fillings. No other flavours or variety. It's pretty basic stuff. I'd rather have less quantity and more variety but that's just me. It's still good chocolate but nothing I'd write home about.

re: syoung
Is this the same Leonidas that sell in the Loblaws at Bathurst and St. Clair? I was excited about trying them but found them very waxy and not that flavourful... then again, I am sort of spoiled, my father in law brings me back fresh made chocolates from Switzerland every year! :)

Cool! Too bad I have no Cost-Co nearby, but I've emailed my friends and relatives elsewhere to alert them to the opportunity.
When I was a young man from North Dakota spending a college year abroad, I tried Leonidas chocolates in Europe and they really blew my mind. I don't even get all that into sweets, but these were phenomenal. One thing I've always wondered: I heard that the Leonidas storefront in Germany had chocolates delivered every week and that they then THREW OUT the last week's chocolates to ensure freshness.
Maybe that wasn't correct, but I've always wondered how that relates to chocolates that have a "use by" date some 6-12 months down the road. I've eaten chocolate that was under a sofa cushion since the previous Presidential administration!

My husband and I wondered about this freshness thing as well. We wondered if they were made differently, perhaps with added preservatives, however according to the ingredient list, there doesn`t appear to be any. The chocolates included in the box don`t include the creamier fillings, however and I think perhaps they chose the assortment based on the fillings that would last longer? A couple of my favourites are not in the box, but given the price it is still an amazing deal!

Was just at the Costco at Wilson and Dufferin and they are out of the chocolates. I checked at service desk and was told that the Etobicoke location has about 400 boxes in stock, and the two Mississauga locations have some as well. They seem to be out at most of the other locations. She's expecting another shipment next week.

re: cheesymama
Because of teh flap on CH I went out this morning to teh Etobicoke location and scored six boxes. There was a big skid of the stuff, about chest high.
I hope that the excitement about Leonidis has more merit than the recommendations here (other than mine) for Thai restaurants. I don't know anything about this sort of thing.
Costco had an impressive selection of big boxes of chocolate confections.

I bought a 2 lb box in Ajax today. They had lots, in the Xmas chocolate section just south of he meats; actually very close to imported cheeses.
I sampled them already, and they are very good, not too sweet, and not pralines. They are mostly chocolate, and the the few filled ones are not creamy or dumbed down. This box is for chocolate lovers, and a true bargain. I may buy more for Xmas gifts, as they may not last long if the internet word gets out.›3 Replies -

No, I am sure! It is the Costco I go to on a weekly basis in Richmond Hill near Elgin Mills and Leslie! I bought a box. The ones on the Costco site seem to be larger boxes containing smaller wrapped boxes whereas mine is one LARGE 2 lb box. Worth checking out; it`s for real!!!

I found them at the Richmond Hill location on John Birchill (not sure about spelling!). They were with all the Xmas boxed chocolates near the meat dept. We cracked it open yesterday and although they are still fabulous, my husband and I think they are sweeter than usual. Not sure if it`s just our imaginations! Nevertheless, it is a great deal!
