Video autoplay on Video page

I think it's a bad user experience to have the video autoplay when you go to the Video tab from chow.com.

I think it's reasonable to assume that a user is looking for what videos to watch, but may not appreciate a video autoplaying (which also starts with an ad, volume on.)

It's a known glitch. Engineering has not been able to replicate it nor solve it yet. It happens only intermittently, on some pages.

Hey, Just to clarify--The glitch is that some people have videos playing from the righthand column (and on chowhound). That's the one we're having a hard time fixing. The video page is meant to be autoplay. If people click video, we are assuming they want to watch video, and don't want to have them need to click again to initiate play.

      Thanks! Meredith of CHOW

Ah - my mistake, sorry! I do agree with the OP though, that the video on the Video page should not autoplay. Let the visitor decide *which* video they want to watch first, rather than having the default video start playing automatically - it's a much better user experience, IMO. :-)
