chinese in west island

clarebear1 Nov 16, 2010 02:19 PM

has anyone found a good chinese take-away yet (particulary one that sells soft fried noodles-not chow mein!) we've tried 3 or 4 now & not really very impressed so far, been here for 6 months now & really missing a nice chinese take-out (with 3 young children, its the highlight of our week!)

thanks all

Have you tried Peking Garden, near the corner of St. John's and Pierrefonds Blvd? They do some items nicely, so I'd say they're worth a try. They have a pretty busy take out business.

Nouveau Maison Kam on Pierrefonds and Sources in the strip mall where the Super C is located is not too bad, it's very similar to Kam Shing, I'm convinced it is a former employee or partner who opened it up.

Also across the street on Sources is Man Li which is not bad and you get 10 or 15% off on take outs if you pick up.

Not sure what type of noodles you like but we typically order the Noodles with Black Bean sauce that come with the very thin noodles. At Man Li I like the thicker Udon noodle plates.

Anyone know what's up with that deserted Chinese resto corner Gouin and Sources called Li-Chee, there's never a car in their huge parking lot but the lights are always on. I'm too scared to walk in and see if it's actually a restaurant. lol

When I was a kid, my neighbour across the street would go to Li-Chee Gardens often to get take out. I went with him once, and I have recollections of the stereotypical Chinese restaurants styling you see in movies, like those lights with the red tassels (I must admit I love those!).

Here's a review by Sarah Musgrave for the Montreal Mirror - great fun!

I live quite close to the Lee-Chee Gardens and in all my years of living in Pierrefonds, I have never seen any cars in their lot, much less anybody going in or out, and I drive by them twice a day, five days a week.

A few years ago I got up the courage to enter and place a take out order. The place was exactly as that Montreal Mirror review described it. The food was fresh and well cooked, but had a strange aftertaste, as if the vegetable oil they were cooking with was old and stale.

I second peking garden. My wife is from the west island, but we are both in Lasalle now. But I have to confess we make a trip out at least once a month to pick up food from there. I love the place.

There are a few in VSL.

-There is a new little take-out inside Marche Hawaii. It replaced the old one, their food is quite good and the owner is eager to please.

-Paris Pho: Corner Grenet and Poirier. Actually a vietnamese place, makes excellent soups and have a couple of chinese options on their menu. Great food, cheap, fast.

-Tong Por on Marcel Laurin can have stuff on takeout.

There's a small take-out only Chinese resto at the corner of Fredmeir and Pierrefonds Blvd. tucked between a gas station and a car wash, called Wok 'n Run.

I picked up food from them about a year ago and as I recall it was ok.

Pavillion Wong Boul des Sources in a strip mall in Pointe Claire. Buffet type. Not recommended. The food in not inspired but this restaurant is dirty and poorly maintained. It need a renovation. The seat cushions are stained and the rice cooker was encrusted with filth. We ate there a few weeks ago and it was not busy. Its' seen better days.
