Where is the "fancy" McDonalds in DC?

spldbrt36 Nov 16, 2010 05:05 AM

I had seen an episode of McDonalds around the world on the Food channel some time ago. It had featured a fancy McDonalds not too far from the Capital building in Washington DC. I can not find this place. It had a piano, a fire place, and waiters! Does anyone know where this place is or if it still exists??

Are you sure that was DC? That sounds like the "Fancy McDonald's" on Broadway in Manhattan; I thought that was a one-off.

I don't even know if it's still there or still fancy, but the McDonald's at 18th St. & Columbia Rd. was in the former location of Gartenhaus Furs, a fancy two story building with a marble staircase. It was there before everyone knew this neighborhood as "Adams-Morgan"

That McDonalds is certainly no fancy though. You won't be getting any waiters or fireplaces in the Adams Morgan McDonalds. haha

This has to be the funniest question ever asked on chowhound. You're thinking of the one in NYC.
