Onion Soup in Paris

As I am going to be in Paris in late December, I imagine I will be in need of a good bowl of onion soup. Can anyone recommend any restaurants that serve some memorable versions? My girlfriend and I will be staying in the 5th. Thanks!

Not in the 5th, but ... not that far either!

(When I was there), My sister had it at "Au Pied de Cochon" 2 weeks ago, and according to her, it was good and satisfying.

    Just sayin'
    Max.

Will you stay in an apartment? If so, I suggest you make the onion soup. It will be the best you'lll find in the 5th.

Hahaha touche. No we will be in a hotel, but we will of course be exploring the city and don't mind venturing for some memorable onion soup on a cold day.

Yes, there are still a few places serving such although most are dishwater:
      Chez Grenouille
52, rue Blanche in the 9th (Metro: Trinite)
      T: 01.42.81.34.07
      Closed Saturday lunch and Sundays
Lunch menus at 15 and 25 and a 40 E carte but they’re cool about mix & matching.
