Where can I buy black lentils aka Beluga lentils?
I just had black lentils for the first time at Woodward and they were so delicious I was blown away and now I'd love to make them at home. I went to Whole Foods but didn't find them. Where have you found black lentils in Boston?
Indian groceries are likely to have them. Christina's has had them in the past as has Trader Joe. You can mail-order them from many sources (just Google).

I have seen them at the Fresh Pond WF. (You did not say which store you had tried.) Give them a call in advance of going there, just to be sure.
Another place to call, and not far from FP, is Formaggio. It is a few minutes from the Fresh Pond WF, on Huron Avenue. I would be shocked if neither of those stores had what you want.

Formaggio packs a lot (an incredible amount, really) into a small space, but their lentil collection is not extensive. They almost always have lentil du puy, but don't always have other kinds. Still, you're right, they're worth calling.

Trader Joe's carries black Beluga lentils in a poly bag, but they are often sold out.

I think I got some at TJ's a few years ago. Didn't look much at the bag beyond admiring how beautiful they looked and threw them into my large legume drawer collection. then a year later...can't remember how long exactly, saw mold growing all through them and finally noticed they were precooked and had an expiration date.....
