Waverly Inn recs?
Some friends from out of town begged to go to the Waverly Inn when they visited, so we now have a reservation for tonight. I never had much interest in the place when it was a Scene a couple of years ago, but the posts on CH seem to indicate that it's cute enough and not as bad as the hype would make it sound. That said, is there anything affirmatively good that I should order? I'm not the biggest fan of chicken pot pie, and have no intention of dropping a hundred bucks on mac 'n cheese, but if there's anything that they do really well that I might not expect, I'd love any tips. Thanks!

May rec is cancelling your rezzie and going somewhere else.
They're not BAD, they're just... average. They're as decent as 100 other neighborhood haunts, with the caveat that they're more expensive than 99 of those. But their purpose isn't to serve great food: their purpose is to serve good, acceptable comfort food to exclusive clientele, and the people who want to pay a premium to gawk at said exclusive clientele. And since the shine has worn off, chances are all you're going to see are the latter type. Don't expect to see LiLo doing lines in the women's WC.
The food is fine, but wickedly overpriced. You'll find the same dishes (at least for entrees - the apps are fairly standard prices) all over town at $10 less per plate. They serve decent mid-range food at high-end prices. I suppose if you go in accepting that you're going to feel a little ripped off, it won't be so bad. Just try not to think about the fact that for the same price (actually, probably less) you could be eating at Commerce, The Spotted Pig, Little Owl, or Recette (just to name few nearby) and you'll be okay.
