Where in Manhattan can I find the best pies ( traditional pumpkin and apple pie) for Thanksgiving?

Two Little Red Hens or Bouchon Bakery (chocolate bourbon pecan)

Patisserie Lulu, a bakery we often patronize in Scarsdale (and which is our go-to for holiday items) just opened a branch in Chelsea (8th around 15th, I believe). Their delicious organic caramel apple pie is a perennial hit at our Thanksgiving dinner, and though we haven't made it to the new branch yet, I have enough faith in their extremely high standards and skills to recommend the Manhattan outlet. I'm fond of LPC's sour cream walnut apple pie, too (only the large, not the smalls) - but Lulu's is definitely better. I'm not sure they offer it at the Chelsea branch, so be sure and call.

Thanks for the ideas. I am interested in whether people think Little Pie is as great as I have heard

Little Pie Company = the best Sour Cream Apple Walnut pie in the world.
          Already placed my order.

If you're near one of the stores you can get yourself a slice and try it/them. They were always a big hit when I brought them to parties, especially the Sour Cream Apple Walnut mentioned below.

I think Little Pie Company is disappointing. The crust is too thick and not cooked well on the bottom. The apples are not luscious and the cream is quite heavy.

I used to buy Thanksgiving pies from the Little Pie Company, and they were always a big hit. Make sure you pre-order.

I saw in the window at Yura this weekend that their pumpkin pie was named "best pumpkin pie" in the city by seriouseats.com. I don't like pumpkin pie, so I've not tried it.
