Best pad thai in Cupertino/Sunnyvale/Santa Clara?
My husband used to get pad thai at a place in DC that made their noodles in-house - they were remarkably tender and fresh-tasting. He complains that the Thai restaurants in this area that we've tried (notably Krung Thai and Thai Basil) don't have anything nearly as good. Any recommendations? Thanks!

In my experience, greater DC area thai tends -- *tends* --- to be better than the the bay area.
That being said, try Thai Spoons in Sunnyvale or make the trip north to Amarin in MV. Not so sure about Pad Thai though - not a dish I order. I love the Cashew Chicken at Amarin.

I also recommend Amarin Thai: it's my favorite for pad thai. However, their style is very distinct; the noodles are very elastic, so it kind of feels like your mouth is full of rubber bands. The sauce they use is not the hot style, but is instead very rich.

I'm afraid you're out of luck. Not trying to be facetious, but that's just the cold, hard facts about pad thai in the South Bay. The closest place where you can find decent pad thai is in Fremont on Sundays for lunch at the Buddhanusorn Thai Temple for their weekly street food fair/fundraiser. Authentic recipe and ingredients with wonderful wok char.
Other than that, you have to head up into the city. Thai House Express on Larkin is the best I've found so far.

I like the pad Thai from Shana Thai in mountain view. I don't think they make their own noodles but it is better then most Thai restaurants in the area.
