Venice, italy (Cannaregio district) - Ostaria da Rioba
My husband and I spent 6 nights in the Cannaregio district of Venice in late September 2010, and dined at Ostaria Da Rioba on three occasions, eating twice inside and once outside. We found the food to be excellent and, in our opinion, on a par with the far-pricier and well-regarded restaurant Osteria alle Testiere, where we also had an excellent meal. The service at Da Rioba was friendly and professional, even when they were busy and tables were crowded. We especially enjoyed the homemade tagliatelli with ragout of rabbit; tagliolini with shrimp and asparagus; seared tuna with sesame seeds; and fillet of beef with mustard sauce. Reservations are a must during the busy dinner hour at this small establishment, especially if it is too cold or rainy for outside seating. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant, off the beaten track but well worth the trip!
