I occasionally get a craving for a meatball sub. I had a real good one at Al's South Street cafe yesterday...any other favorites Boston and Points North?

thanks

My brother swore by a place in Gloucester called Destino's. Not sure if it still exists, as that was many years ago.

Tough to top the meatball sub at Avellino's in Medford. Plus, the sandwich is big enough for two meals.

I also love Nappi's. Probably the best around.

But AJ's is a close second IMO.

Leone's in Somerville (Winter Hill) is quite good - and with a slice of their amazing spinach pizza - now that's a meal...

Haven't had it lately but Hot Tomatos on Kingston and Bedford used to have a great meatball sub. They were owned by the Carmen people and the original HT was across the street. The original location closed; I think because of family issues and don't know about the current ownership of HT.

They were serving the same meatballs and Bolognese as Carmen on Iggy's bread. Very high quality..prices a touch high. I'm a fan of Al's too.

Best I've had around these parts is Nappi's in Medford. Old school place on Salem Street -- the meatballs are just great. One size, full of meatballs and their very good sauce. Get it with provolone if you like a sharp tang.

Definitely worth the drive from points North.
