non-Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving near Palo Alto

  • 3

I am looking for a nice (local/slow food) restaurant with vegetarian options (preferably restaurants that really know how to treat vegetables rather than places that serve vegetarians pasta) for a meal on Thanksgiving. Any suggestions? My family is celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday and will arrive in the area Thursday afternoon. We just want a good dinner that will not duplicate the more traditional meal we will do on Friday. Thank you for any suggestions you have within 15 miles of Palo Alto!

  1. How about Madera in MP? They have a michelin star and availability on thanksgiving.

There are some less formal options listed on open table. Regrettably not Flea Street, which I would consider perfect. I would consider calling them anyway because they're perfect for relaxed family things and are strong with the veg. The dishes can be a little hit or miss, but overall quite good.

TaiPan appears to be open, and Scott's.

What's listed as unavailable on OT is a rogue's gallery of the usual suspects: evvia, baume, crouching tiger, tamerine, xahn, zibbibo.

    1. If you like chinese that might be your best bet - often open and without the "special" TG menu the others tend to have. I'd check around your area in PA - or go to Castro St in MV. (Indian also good for veg - but not sure about openings). Lots of the places like this aren't on OT.

      1. Is Amber India open on Thanksgiving? They have great vegetable/vegetarian options, and it would definitely be non traditional.

It linked below to the Amber India in SF and I can't edit that, but I mean the one in Mountain View.
