Apiary, Little Giant or The Orchard?
We are meeting a good friend of mine and her guy for dinner. They are visiting from Chicago. I don't know the guy that well, but I believe he is not the most adventurous eater. They are going for italian food some place the other night they are in town, so I think my best option is picking an "american" place. I also don't want to pick some place over-the-top expensive -- again, don't know the other guy that well. I'm thinking about $50-$60 per person. None of us are big drinkers.
I have narrowed it down to the aforementioned Apiary, Little Giant, The Orchard. I have been to The Orchard, but it was several years ago.
I have reviewed the menus of the others and they look nice. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, mostly on Apiary vs. Little Giant, in terms of taking a non-chowhound and overall atmosphere?
Oh, and I also have a feeling that my friend's boyfriend will be wearing jeans....would that be appropriate at Apiary? I get the feeling it's a little nicer than that, but maybe not?
Thanks...

Ate at all 3 in the past year. Little Giant is the only one I would go back to. I thought the food was excellent and the service was spot on. There is also a great tequila bar across the street. I would highly recommend Little Giant

Think about Hearth. Definitely in the price range you are looking at. The food is better than both of those places, and it is much much quieter, with better service.
You can even try to sit at the chef's pass, where you can watch all the action in the back of the house.
I wear jeans there all the time.
