Antigua, GT: Caoba Farms organic CSA delivery throughout Guatemala

  • 0

I was vastly disappointed that due to classes I couldn't go on the field trip to Caoba Farms today.

I first learned of Caoba at a new restaurant in Antigua, Pangua, which buys it's produce from them. Pangua uses a lot of Caoba edible flowers to add color to dishes. The photo of the bruchetta below has tiny borage blossoms.

Here are two articles about Caoba

I have eaten at the restaurants using Caoba that are mentioned in one of the articles ... Culinaria, Doña Luisa, SabeRico and Epicure. They are all at the top of my list for top quality Antigua restaurants. Actually I'm even more impressed with Doña Luisa after reading that.

Anyway, Caoba Farms offers home delivery service throughout Gautemala everyday except Sunday. Call a day ahead of anticipated delivery, before 5 p.m. Delivery to Guatemala City is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday For orders: Tels: 5119-0278, 5196-4443, 5203-8473

I should test this out and see if they will deliver to Masagua. That would be qutie the talk of the town. However, Caoba hasdifferent varieties of cherry tomatoes, and right now I would kill for a decent tomato. They deliver to restaurants in El Salvador as well. Why not Masagu? I should call.

So if you are living in Guatemala and want some orgnanic produce delivered to your door, Caoba Farms might be worth checking out. The produce I've tried in restaurants that use Caoba has been great. Culinaria and SaborRico also sell Caoba produce retail in their stores. There's not a lot, but there are a few bins available at both places.
