re: CookieLee
I've been there a couple of times. I know quite a few people who have been there and they've always liked it.
Some items on the menu are very ordinary but many a dishes are pretty good.
Drinks:
Masala Coke + Mirch Mojito were pretty decent.. avoid the kaapi nirvana.Starters:
Chicken lollipops were nice. Crispy and slightly spicy. i'd order these every time. CHicken momos were decent. I'd avoid the gobi manchurian. Crispy okra was very bland the last time but it was better on the earlier visit.Soups:
Sweet Corn, Hot and Sour, Manchow .. all were good. I'd order the manchow over Hot and Sour thoughChicken Entrees:
Mirch 65 was the best of the lot. Very well executed as far as the taste goes. Chicken coriander was the other entree we got out of that section. was not impressed with it.Lamb:
Crispy Schezuan Lamb was another one we liked. I wanna try out the cumin lamb next time around.Vegetables:
Chili Paneer was standard. Not great but pretty decent.Noodles/Rice:
Ordered CHili Garlic noodles, Schezuan fried rice and American Chopsuey. The chopsuey was a little too sweet for my liking but my friends seemed to like it. Chili garlic noodles were well done and I'd recommend them as well as schezuan fried rice out of that section.I hope this helps .. Your post definitely put Chinese Mirch on my dinner list for this month :)

re: hargau
This is secondhand info - a friend who knows jalapenos and thai bird chilis well went to China Mirch yesterday with a companion whose tolerance for heat is low. So they ordered two 1-star vegetarian dishes. Both came with very thick cornstarchy sauces and were extremely spicy, so much so that my friend is waffling about eating the leftovers the companion couldn't handle. Neither would consider going there again.

Chinese Mirch in Framingham is a franchise of the one in New York City. It does the basic stuff well (Fried rice, hakka noodles, machurian, etc.)
It's definitely the best Indo-Chinese restaurant fare around Boston .. a couple of items on the Ming III menu (Westborough next to the Regal Cinemas, another newly added location of the Ming in Edison, NJ) are better but the portion sizes of Ming III are disappointing while they charge the same as the Edison, NJ location.. (Comparison: IMO, Ming in NJ > Chinese Mirch, NY)
All in all, try it out if you like to chomp on some Indo-Chinese food .. It's definitely the best of the lot around Boston ..

re: lipoff
I had the lunch buffet at Mumbai Chopstix last Saturday.
The dishes on the buffet included:
Pepper beef: tender meat, but very bland. not spicy at all.
Szechuan chicken: such a disappointment - hunks of chicken in a really mild "red" sauce, and not even the slightest bit of heat.
Spicy tofu with eggplant: this was the best dish. but still very unremarkable. large soft chunks of eggplant with the occasional square of tofu. in a spicy brown sauce which was slick with oil, a mild heat. not much complexity nor heat.
Sesame chicken: i didn't try this (sesame allergy), but it looked like your garden variety amero-chinese sesame chicken.
Vegetable fried rice: white rice mixed with green bean / corn / carrot mixture, the stuff you get frozen in a bag. i'm serious. :(
Hakka noodles: wheat lo-mein noodles with mixed bits of vegetables, it was very salty.
Shumai: these hadn't come out yet, I didn't stick around for them
Overall, VERY mediocre. Service was a bit hover-y. It's a nice dining room, though.
