Sunday lunch LES/East Village after Tenement Museum

Any suggestions for a good lunch place with mom that's not too hip, not too pricey?

  1. Funny, I just booked Stanton Social for a Saturday Brunch after the Tenement museum. They are a bit pricey. Brunch on weekends.
Are you going on a weekend? If not try Clinton St Baking Co. They are packed on weekends and don't take reservations for brunch but on weekdays you should be able to get right in.
Otherwise, Poutine if that unusual tasty treat floats your boat or
Katz's, always reliable and not expensive.

Poutine has closed. And since the OP is going on a Sunday, I wouldn't recommend taking a chance on CSBC. I'd take my mom to Little Giant, which takes reservations and is a very fine place to eat. My dinners there have been excellent.

Poutine closed!! My heart and arteries say "thank goodness"

I never made it there, but I did take a trip up to Montreal in May and had some vegetarian poutine at La Banquise. Conclusion: poutine is really good for the first four or five bites. After that, it becomes monotonous. And after *that*, it becomes something like torture. But maybe that's just me. (I ate it all, anyway.)

    2. You could walk to Russ and Daughters. Not much seating but great food.

      1. Thanks for the suggestions. Clinton Street would be ideal but long wait is not an option. Forgot to add that 3 out of 4 are vegetarians.

Ok, it wouldn't be my first choice (although it's not a bad place), but Essex Restaurant has a decent number of options for vegetarians.

Essex is also going to have a long wait though.

        2. Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop? Vegetarian friendly, casual, not too pricey. They have over a dozen sandwiches that can be made vegetarian.
