Food Itinerary Nearly Set - Thoughts?

  • 3

Food itinerary is primarily set...still some obvious holes. As you can see, I'm not dying to get to a ton of breakfasts while I'm here...We're coming from San Diego, and if you've never been, I think it may be the mecca of insanely good breakfast places. That said, we'll probably find something quick and cheap for breakfast as to save room and $$ for gluttony later.

December 29th:
Arrive 4:45pm
Dinner: Emeril's @ 6:45
*Still need a post-dinner snack, somewhere I could hit around the FQ around 9:30-10ish.

December 30th:
Breakfast: Cafe Du Monde @ 7am
Lunch: Restaurant August @ 11:30am
Snack: Central Grocery
Dinner: Cajun Seafood around 6pm
*Snack: Looking for ideas, probably around 9ish

December 31st:

Lunch: Commander's Palace @ 12pm
Snack: Mr. B's Bistro
*Dinner: No plans yet, looking for something decent, see other thread

January 1st:

Snack: Luke HH @ 3pm
*Everything else wide open, still calling to see what's open.

January 2nd:

*Snack: Open to a pre-lunch snack
*Lunch: Need help finding something good that is open on Sundays
Snack: Parkway Bakery
Dinner: Cafe Atchafalaya @ 6pm

Also, let's say I just wanted to go into Brennan's for a Banana Foster, or any number of restaurants simply for a quick appetizer....Are these places accomodating for that? Is this abnormal?

  1. Hermes Bar at Antoine's would be fun after Emeril's for drinks and snacks. Parkway is open on Sunday. Napoleon House is a fun place with good food for snacks. If you want to move your Central Grocery snack on the 30th Acme Oyster House has a $4.00 Appetizer Special from 3/6 Monday through Thursday including onion rings, tamales, wings, etc. You could move CG to the 31st and move Mr. B's to the 2nd on Sunday. Parkway is the best but Johnny's has good po boy's in the FQ in case you want to walk to good snacks. August is open on Sunday. Brennan's is very accomodating and will very likely help you with any request. They have always been kind to me. I always get a gallong of their gumbo to take home and they ice it down for me for travel.

Thanks for the info. Good tips. Is Parkway simply the best for the roast beef po boy, or po boys in general? I'd like to try the best roast beef po boy in the city, but my real craving is for some seafood po boys...

NOLA has many many po boy joints. Here's a few. Go over the menu and pick out one or two. If you want to stay in the FQ I would go to Johnny's. If you go Uptown I would go to Tracey's. But there are many many good po boy joints.
