Help for Wedding Reception!

  • 8

Hi All! I normally hang out on the Boston/New England boards, so I apologize if someone else has already asked this question...

Does anyone have a good idea of some good venues for a day-time wedding reception? A friend of my family wants to have her wedding mid-May, 2011 (which I realize is right around the corner).

I'm posting to Chow (rather than to one of those wedding website boards), because the bride's goal is to really showcase New Orleans. Obviously, food is front & center. And, we'd need space for approximately 150 people.

Thanks so much for your help!

    1. We just had a family wedding at Galvez, formerly Bella Luna. The river views are fantastic and you are smack dab in the middle of the FQ. Food was delicious, not strictly Spanish...yummy lamb chops. Recommend it.

      1. I got married last spring at Latrobes on Royal. The chef there is fantastic. It was not typical "wedding food". Our out of town guests loved it and still rave about the shrimp and grits. It was once the bank of Louisiana. With 150 guests, she maybe looking at more of the ballroom or reception hall place rather than the restaurant route. Other places we looked was Brousarrds for a court yard wedding (may be hot in May).

        1. We had much the same goal when we got married a few years ago. We had just come back after katrina so we also wanted to have a New Orleans centric wedding. We had our wedding and reception at the new orleans museum of art. Joel catered. Rehearsal dinner at Ralph's on the Park. A great time was had by all.

You only mention a reception. Where's the service?
