Looking for fresh goose for Thanksgiving

We prefer goose for Thanksgiving and in years past were able to find local farmers who killed and dressed them in Wisconsin and Delaware, and even in Phoenix area many years ago. Those geese were smaller, but also much less fatty than the commercial frozen geese (available at Fry's for $10/lb).

Are there any local sources for fresh geese these days

This place is in California (so shipping charges are far less than from the East Coast) has a limited supply of fresh geese. I ordered a fresh duck from them for my sister in CA - she said it was excellent.

I saw some frozen @ Safeway (48th St / Indian School) last night for $5/lb. Even if you ordered from D'Artagnan, you're gonna get it frozen...

I highly doubt you'll find a source for fresh geese in PHX, although if you do, I'd love to know where.

I've been told frozen can be found at Hobe Meats too.
