Roast Beef Hash at Wollensky Grill - my favorite dish of 2010

After mush hype and anticipation I went to WG last night and ordered the Roast Beef Hash. What arrived was more like Prime Rib Hash with a ratio of 4:1 meat to potatoes. The meat was chared on the outside and tender on the inside. I comes with holandaise sauce and a poached egg on top. Such a delicious combination and the meat had an amazing flavor. This was the dish I will look back on and rank at the top of my list.

Haha...yes it's a staple on our WG runs as well. Great for LUNCH, DINNER or BF the next day! It's what children should be raised on and requested for last meals. haha

I just had the Roast Beef hash at Wollensky. At $22 a bit on the expensive side. But just as described above by the OP, this is good. I like the poached egg approach and, imho, it works better than a fried/sunny-side egg, as it is softer, slightly runnier and mixes in well.
This is also a lot better than the Keens version which was drier, less flavorfull and totally un-interesting.

i had the prime rib hash at Keens. I didn't like it at all, the meat is overcooked i love red meat on the bloodier side. is the meat in wollensky grill's roast beef hash well done?

I love the prime rib hash at Keens. It sounds very similar to Wollensky's version, although (thankfully, IMHO) without the hollandaise. I find it to be a great vehicle for tabasco sauce, though!

WG's the place a few paces of east of Third on 49th, right, prince -not the S&W on the corner? I like that spot: sounds worth a revisit.

Its around the corner of the more formal S&W. Same menu and kitchen but a much more relaxed atmosphere. If you go PLEASE try the hash!!

Sounds good, gonna have to try it. Although, i'd rather the egg cooked over-easy or sunny side up as opposed to poached.

I know, i just like the overeasy eggs better than poached. give me fat fried over water poached any day!
