Where to go to get good Vietnamese!

I live in Langley but I go downtown frequently. Vietnamese is one of my favorite foods and its hard to find a good place. I'm really not a fan of Pho Hoes or Pho 99 etc. they are pretty generic and deliver non authentic food.

That is not a vietnamese restaurant! It's cambodian (as the name would suggesT)!

I think they have both, broken, and even a few Laotian dishes.

To be fair...PP calls themselves a "Cambodian-Vietnamese" restaurant. Half their menu is Vietnamese.

My bad --

They don't really have the standard Viet dishes though if I recall (no pho, esp), and there is so much great Vietnamese in Van why bother?

Song Hu'ong is good, and is Pho Quyen on 25/Fraser. Love both for pho (never tried anything else at either though).

My favorite place for Vietnamese is Green Lemongrass on Kingsway. Others on this board also seem to enjoy it:

second for green lemongrass. their sister restaurant in richmond is mighty good too.

Along with the other recs already mentioned:

Song Huong (try some of the Hue dishes there - eg bun bo Hue; and the bo 7 mon - you'll need at least 4 people though. It's my go-to pho place as well.)

My Chau (the pho ga is excellent, but many of their other dishes are also very good)

Truong Tranh - for North Vietnamense dishes...eg banh cuon, xoi)

Le Do (solid pho and their special salad roll)

Pho Thai Hoa - a good survey of Vietnamese classics mostly well executed.

Cuu Long (Cong) at Kingsway and Knight has some mighty fine pork grillage happening, and the family that runs it are so welcoming. I also like their desserts a lot.
