Excellent lunch at Ward Street Cafe (Larkspur)

Two of us had lunch yesterday at Ward Street Cafe in downtown Larkspur. We shared the warm avocado prawns (sautéed prawns, tomatoes, scallions, sticky rice, wine garlic sauce, $12.95) and coconut curry shrimp (house noodle, shitake mushrooms, baby bock choy, cilantro, $11.00). I'd call this creative comfort-food cooking at its best. My lunch partner is an excellent creative cook and in the food business; she thought it was as good as I did. The noodles were substantial, meaning you had to chew them, which I liked a lot. That dish had a Thai influence including some chilies. The very nice patio was empty on this cool day and the inside wasn't crowded. Do yourself (and the restaurant) a favor and try this place.
