Hyderabad House, 4820 Sheppard East, Scarborough - Indian food worth the drive out for?
During the past week, running errands in the McCowan/ Sheppard area brought me past this Indian place. Twice I stopped by to find the place either open late or closed for repair. The second time, the owner told me they will definitely re-open tomorrow on time!
I am contamplating making a ' third time lucky' trip out there to give their food a try. ( since some other 'non CH review' actually gave their food 5* out of 5!!! ). But before doing so, I just wanted to get some fellow chowhounders' feedback and confirmation that the food is indeed good enough to deserve another drive out there?! The aroma from the establishment sure smells good though!!
Thx!

Its my go to place now for biryani.....so far had only the Chicken Biryani and Tala Hua gosht (which is basically dry beef curry) and both turned out to be awesome.....after that I recommended the place to a couple of other friends and they loved it too.....
Did not get a chance to go over the weekend, thats when they have Lamb and Veal Biryani too..But I'll be honest, its their flavourful rice that did the trick for me...
...Give it a shot...›7 Replies-

re: warlock
I gave it a third try last Sunday! Thank God it was open!
I first asked for a lamb or Chicken Biryani but was told that they were not ready and that I have to wait an extra 45 minutes for them!! No !@#$%$ way!!
So instead, I had the plain biryani rice to go with my order of Tala Hua Ghosht, Butter Chicken and Mutton curry. The Butter Chicken was passable using dark meat for more flavour and texture. However, both the beef and mutton dishes were major disappointment! Bland and uninteresting! Didn't realize curry dishes can taste THAT ORDINARY!! A total waste of my time and money! Doubt if I'll return!!
For good curries, do I really have to drive all the way down to Gerrard in Little India??!! Sigh!!!-----

re: Charles Yu
Copper Chimney has it's own thread here somewhere. And have you tried Maroli? It's a different style but very good. Soon I hope to try the new place opening on Danforth across from Pape IGA, it's in the original Mon-Kut-Thai location and the temporary signs on the windows indicate there will be a few fish dishes.
