All things Indian [Quebec City]

  • 1

Recently moved to Quebec City. I'm looking for Indian restaurant and grocery store recommendations.

==============================
INDIAN RESTAURANTS
==============================

Restaurant-wise, here's what I know:

1. Le Taj Mahal. [Rene Levesque near Ave. Cartier]

Been there a few times. Good food. Usually I hear lots of English at this place. One time I even heard a Brit.

Two doors down from Le Taj Mahal is

2. Delice de l'Inde. [Rene Levesque near Ave. Cartier]

Been there twice. Good food but bad service. Should I go back?

Rumor is that around the corner from LTM and Ddl'I, on Ave. Cartier, there's an Indian place called

3. Garam Massala. [Ave. Cartier]

Haven't been. What say you?

Over in Sillery, there's supposedly a place called

4. Saveurs d'Inde. [Ave. Maguire or thereabouts]

Haven't been. Is it any good?

5. Shahi Masala. [Ch. Ste-foy]

Haven't been.

6. Restaurant Nupur. [Ave. Myrand]

Haven't been.

Additional information on the above places or names/addresses of new places is much appreciated.

INDIAN GROCERY STORES
===========================

I don't know of any. Do you?

Well, wait, there is Délicatesses Tonkinoises on Rue St-Jean, but I'm not hopeful it will contain Indian thingamajigs. I'm going tomorrow after my French class. A report will follow.

I'd like to stock up on ingredients so that this winter I can stay home and cook vast amounts of saag paneer, rather than slalom my car all over Montcalm and Sillery, smash into one of those delightful red Canada Post boxes, impale myself on a Maple-Leaf-emblazoned shard of metal, and die in the snow amidst children's letters to Pere Noel--now covered in my rapidly congealing blood--while my fellow Quebeckers walk by and roll their eyes at the moron from Texas who can't drive in a half-inch of snow.

I approve this message.

  1. Bonjour and bienvenue à Quebec

    Never went in indian restaurant in Quebec, from fellow workers: Garam Massala is not a really clean restaurant... and Nupur have closed many years ago. For an Indian grocery maybe you could ask restaurant owner's...
    Maybe will be more helpful next time,
