Things closed on New Years Day (Saturday) and Sundays in New Orleans?

I'm trying to plan my trip and wondering if I should get in on the 29th instead of the 30th to allow one more extra day of gorging. Should I expect most places, i.e. sit down restaurants and shops like parkway to be closed on both of these days? Thanks!

  Most places will be open on NY's Eve. Most places will be closed on NY's Day. If they are open on Sunday's during normal periods of time they will most likely be open on Sunday after NY's. Calling the restaurants you are interested in is best IMO. Parkway is open on Sunday and I assume they will be open on the day after NY's D.
