I am looking for anywhere in Los Angeles that may serve vegetarian matzo ball soup?

Thank you,

  1. are you asking where to find matzo balls in vegetable broth? the idea of "vegetarian matzo ball soup" is odd, in that schmaltz is a very common ingredient... not veggie...

    1. It is very hard for me to imagine matzo ball soup without chicken broth.
(However, after Thanksgiving I have made the soup with turkey. )

      Good luck!

Oh veggie matzo ball soup definitely exists! It just seems to be a rarity. I can think of places in Toronto and New York that do it and quite deliciously. I make a pretty mean bowl myself, but like to find others to make it for me!

      2. i seem to remember that many of the matzo ball soup mixes that come in boxes are, in fact, vegetarian (NOT vegan) in that the broths don't contain any 'real' chicken products at all.

It's true, the mixes are always vegetarian so that if you are an observant Jew that doesn't eat milk and meat in the same meal you can enjoy the soup with any meal, including one involving milk. Good vegetarian matzo ball soup is easy to make at home, but I've never seen it in a restaurant.
