Want to thank all of you for the great rec's!
Thanksgiving weekend in SB/Montecito was picture perfect and Biltmore and San Ysidro Ranch were awesome for breakfast...we were going to go to Peabody's but didn't make it.
We headed up to Cold Spring Tavern and what a lovely rustic place.
Got the last table for lunch next to the fireplace and had the cheeseburger with the mushroom soup which was outstanding.
Great burger cooked medium rare on the charbroiler...the food was quite good and other people meals looked great too and I could hear yummy sounds all around.
They have a firepit with people roasting marshmallows..wish we had something like this in SD. -
Beachbreak Cafe on lower State Street is a good local spot, as is Judge for Yourself on Santa Barbara Street, close to the courthouse.
I have not been but there has been much good press about Reynaud's for their croissants.
I second Stella Mare's for brunch, great food and lovely setting.-----

re: Beach Chick
Forgot how many great breakfast places there are around here: http://www.santabarbara.com/Dining/re...
The one at the San Ysidro Phamacy is called the Montecito Coffee Shop. Yes, they are known for pancakes but those are always better at IHOP in my opinion (great fan of the IHOP Swedish pancakes), but the SYP has its legendary appeal as a place to be and see in Montecito -or it used to. I have not been there in years.
Don't think Superica does breakfast and it is not on the link list so the recommendation was for Super Cuca's which is a different place in the other side of town, and they do yummy everything. And as equally casual, but a little more working class and down home than Superica. We go there a lot for their horchata and "Super Nachos al Pastor"

Days this time of the year can be warm and sunny and great for early morning outdoor dining. If this interests you there are a number of waterside or sidewalk cafe people watching places to go where the views might outshine the food but with breakfast, it is at least a hard dish to screw up totally.
Beach side places are: Boathouse at Hendry's Beach (Arroyo Burro), down the road a bit in Las Conchitas is The Cliff House and Shoals restaurant has a stunning waterside location, and the Cabrillo Bath House directly on the beach and Chase Palm Park.
Both the Harbor Restaurant and Moby Dicks on Stearns Wharf can get your day stated with a waterside view thrown if indoor dining is more appealing. Agree, Biltmore is a lovely spot with an outdoor setting though not directly on the beach it is still close enough to enjoy its feeling.
Sidewalk cafes: Anderson's Bakery on State Street and both Renaud's French Bakery and Cafe (*****croissants) locations downtown or San Roque Las Positas
Local people watching with "star" potential for breakfast is the San Ysidro Phamacy in Montecito.
For super casual and super funk there is a great Mexican breakfast menu at Super Cuca's at the corner of West Micheltorena and San Andres Street in the Westside and they open at 6am. -
In Montecito, the restaurant at The Biltmore is excellent with pretty views of the ocean. We saw dolphins jumping out of the water from our table there. Across from Stearn's Wharf is Eladio's, they have very good food. :)
