Rec's for Sunday lunch -YYC

Meeting some friends for lunch on Sunday and need a good recommendation. People are coming from the far south-east and north-west...so more central would be preferred. So many places are dinner...but not lunch on Sunday - so need some good ideas.
Thanks much

Another good suggestion - my fave brunch place in the city.

Thanks John - good suggestion...I don't think they're licensed...but we can probably go without.

nope, they're fully licensed. Wine is served in small tumblers which seemed to be an issue with others on this board, but I find fits in with the atmosphere of the place.

            Bonus - thanks marco.
I certainly don't mind drinking wine out of a tumbler...I've seen it done in Italy.

Marco, for the record it wasn't the wine served in tumblers that were at issue it was the wine at $25 for 1/2 litre in tumblers. I've had lots of wine from less than ideal vessels but not in a restaurant at the equivalent of $37/bottle.

And if the weather holds, you could enjoy your meal outside. I went for lunch today and the restaurant was packed and almost all the outside tables were taken. I love the chicken sandwich. The preserved lemon aioli really "makes" it.

I second Boxwood. You could also try Una Pizza, which is also open on Sunday for lunch (and it's licensed).

After suggesting Boxwood I just had to go for lunch on Sunday myself - and I had yet another amazing meal. Roasted chicken sandwich, shared roasted chicken soup and pork chili with husband (not ground pork, but shredded roasted pork), house made lemonade, and a chocolate chunk and cranberry cookie: It was to die for. The place was packed too - why don't we have more places like this in Calgary?

                  Nice!!!

Being from Edmonton I had not heard of Boxwood before reading through this "thread"...will be trying it the next time we venture south as Sunday's menu was quite appealing...not too often that I would order virtually any and everything from a menu.
