Baby shower in San Antonio

H all,

My mother and I are trying to plan a baby shower for my sister-in-law in San Antonio. I live in Maryland; my mother lives in Arizona.

We must plan the event for a weeknight in the week after Christmas, unfortunately. Our party will comprise perhaps 8 women, and I'm hoping that I can find a small, private room in a very nice restaurant where we can open presents and have a great time. I'd like my sister-in-law to feel pampered, of course. "Girly" is good!

Any suggestions?

Thank you kindly,
Jamie

  1. Hhmm. How about a tea room in boerne? I'll get back with you on the name. Quaint little city a few miles outside san Antonio.

    1. This may be a long shot, but Paesano's at The Quarry Market (Lincoln Heights) has a private dining room that seats thirty-five people. Actually, it's a wine room (not sure if that would be appropriate for a baby shower....). My daughter's in-laws celebrated their 50th anniversary there and it was a lovely event with fabulous food. The atmosphere is not "girly", though, but maybe you and your mom could bring in those touches. Anyway, you can check out their website: http://www.paesanos.com. I'm sure a tea room would be preferable, but I'm not aware of any at the moment. Good luck with your plans and congratulations to the mother-to-be!

      1. Chef Jason Dady's Tre Trattoria has a very nice side room with a round table that seats 8-12 that I think would work perfect.

One of Chef Dady's other restaurants, The Lodge at Castle Hills, has several areas that would work for that number of guests. The one that comes to mind is on the second floor. The Lodge is a lovely old rock house that, although in the city, used to be the country house of a well-to-do oilman and thus has a wonderful, cozy atmosphere as a restaurant. The food is excellent!

        2. You might try The Huisache Grill in New Braunfels. http://www.huisache.com/ I see their posted reservation policy, but I don't think they'd be beyond setting aside something if you called.
