Do I REALLY post that much???

Caroline1 Nov 3, 2010 11:32 PM

You know those little numbers down at the bottom of your profile page? They show how many pages of threads you've participated in. I just happened to glance down at mine... 4,650...! I suspect something is amiss. But that's okay. I don't mind being called a chatter box. Can anyone top me? '-)

Curious. The "My Threads" page shows 72. My Reading List page shows 4,650. I don't think either one is right, but it's not important. It just struck my funny bone.

is there a tab I'm missing? 'cause it doesn't show up on mine.

I'm not positive, but I don't think other people can access my Reading List page. Just your own. But hey, I'm obviously no expert! '-)

I don't even see mine. I don't see any "little numbers down at the bottom of your profile page"

same here I see people "reading me" (and while quite flattering, I have no idea why) but no numbers on how often I've posted, and frankly I'd probably rather not know.

Mostly because you have a very cute baby as your profile picture.

that, my friend, is a scan of my current DL photo I'll have you know...

                - actually a random shot of a friend's kid, I thought it looked sorta trashy, yet cool.

What is a "DL"? It is not trashy that is for sure.

That is your reading list. Not the number of posts you wrote. :P

Yes, I understand that now. I obviously had never noticed that it shows different numbers on the profile page and the reading list page. So I only glanced at the numbers and was SHOCKED....!!!! But, Honey Bunch, you didn't even know where to look until I sent you a red arrow! :-p

I know. Reverse-Honey Bunch. I just don't know there is a number I can see the number of post I made.

I routinely check my reading list. How else do you think I track the post you have been writing?

If you look at the bottom of the 'My Threads' tab of your profile page, you'll see the pagination numbers. In your case, there are 44 pages. Each page has 25 threads on it. So, give or take, you've posted in 1100 threads.

J: holy cow! 57 pages of threads I've commented on? and that doesn't even count the deletions!

                          god I need a life.

Your reading list is threads that people on your 'People I'm Reading' list have participate in. The more people you have on your list, the longer that list will be. It has no relationship to the number of threads you yourself have participated in.

Boardreader is an interesting way to view a sites immediate posting history. The home cooking board has been top of the charts for a good length of time and those CH's posting to it remain top chowhounds for sheer post volume. A remarkable change in direction from this sites original top board categories.

Hi Guys, I'm new here and must have been hitting the Barolo too hard. I want to start a new discussion and cannot figure out how and where to do it. I'll put down the glass now and absorb your wisdom.

I do note that a poster with your handle did post a reply back in 2007 on a discussion in the Chapel Hill, NC area. So, lets assume that you are that poster and you are still in that area of the country. You need to go to the "local" board that covers that area, found here: http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/78 and then look near the top left for a large and very red button that reads "ADD NEW POST". Click on that and it will open up a title box and a content box. Fill both out to your satisfaction and then scroll down and hit the red button that reads "ADD NEW TOPIC" and your new post should appear.

If the board you want to add a new post to is not in that (Chapel Hill or the other areas covered by that board) area then you will need to look at (by clicking on "Choose a Board") all the available boards for the one you want and do the same procedure there. If you aren't sure what board you want please come back here and describe what you want to post about and where that thing is or you want to find and someone will help direct you to the right board.
