Olie e Limone for Italian is very good, for fine dining check out The Wine Cask. :)

Close by in Montecito is the Stonehouse Restaurant at the San Ysidro Ranch. Spectacular location (10/10) with outdoor terrace (heated nicely at night at this time of the year), very good food (8/10), good service and massive wine list. Worth the short drive...

A fabulous meal would be Julienne which is a few blocks away at Canon Perdido and Santa Barbara Streets. In walking distance from the Arlington right next door is my favorite Downey's (Traditional elegance).

And there are also more casual meals at Ca D'Ario (N. Italian) , Arigato (Sushi), Hungry Cat (seafood) and Opal (California bistro) just a very few easy doors away from the Arlington. You are in restaurant ground zero in this location except the best one we have is Julienne which is more out of the way, but at the top of the local heap in my opinion.

The San Ysidro Ranch (Stonehouse) is about 20-30 minutes drive away on the freeway.

Bouchon! It's just around the corner. Great food and service. Also I second Olio e Limone.

Within one block of the Arlington you have multiple great choices - Bouchon (calif fresh local and a GREAT wine list), Olio e Limone (Sicilian), Carlitos (Mexican), Jane (calif cuisine) and Opal (bistro/pizza) are all on our lost of "go to" restaurants. Or if you really want to splurge try Downeys. Yep they are all within one block.

Downey's has a very nice four course prix fixe every evening which includes their very elegant and unique desserts. I would not consider them a "splurge" if one is also talking about buchon and Olio et Limone in the same area and similar price range. Not sure if buchon or Olio also offer a prixe fixe like Downey's.

We love Olie e Limone, the restaurant at The Biltmore in Montecito is also awesome! :)
