Prime Rib?

I've priced out the prime rib at The Prime Rib and find it's just a tad above my budget at $46.00...I WILL go there some day, but for now, does anyone know of another Baltimore City or County restaurant that serves Prime Rib???

Flemings' Prime Steakhouse has a prime rib special 3-course dinner offered on Sunday's. A choice of salad, prime rib with a side order and dessert. Can't be beat. Lovely atmosphere and superb service.

Go to Stoney River in Towson Town Center Mall and order a prime rib sandwich with a side. About $15.00. You could order a salad, soup, or other side and still be under the price point.

Sunset Restaurant in Glen Burnie (along with the previous recommendation of Snyder's), offers a huge, succellent prime rib dinner, with a side. Before dinner, there is a platter of pickles, raw vegetables, port wine cheese, crackers,. etc). The meal also includes a salad. Nice atmosphere, especially this time of year with the holiday decorations and fireplace ablazing. FoiGras

Snyder's also does the pickles and port cheese thing. Is this a Baltimore thing, or what?

I suppose it is a Baltimore "thing." But, it's a nice touch. Of course it's not a delicacy, or
Chef's Amouse (spelling???), but a nice touch nonetheless.
a bit of typical port wine cheese and some crudities, always welcome when dining out. And with reference to the Prme Rub special, there is the 3 course meal offering available at this time to celebrate their 45th year anniversary of being in business. Just call the restaurant to confirm. Prime Rib doesn't offer the crudities as those at Snyder's or Sunset, but it offers many fabulous dishes in a romantic atmosphere.

It seems that no restaurants of the trendy set, offer subdued dinner music via a pianist or harpist. Yet, when I travel to other cities, the luxury type restaurants offer subtle, live dinner accompaniant music. FoiGra

Yes, I am well aware that PR has live music as I dine there frequently. It is virtually the only local restaurant, besides the Oregon Grill in Hunt Valley, that provides dinner-time live music, and not just on weekends. FoiGras

Maybe it's just an old-school amuse bouche "thing", as opposed to a Baltimore "thing". I remember getting a similar "thing" in Chicago "supper clubs" as a kid in the sixties. I thought it was very "classy" back then and I still do.

I'll add that Prime Rib is having a 45th anniversary special that's lobster bisque, prime rib and chocolate mousse for $45. Still expensive, but cheaper than the menu prices.

It isn't on the menus (under specials or anywhere I could find). Is that for Baltimore only? Do you need to ask for it? Is that until the end of the year?

I'm blind- I don't see it for DC or Baltimore on the home page or their specials.

Snyder's Willow Grove on Hammond's Ferry Road. Old-school and a little threadbare, but an excellent prime rib dinner for under $30.

Is there more than one Snyder's in Baltimore? If this is the same place i am thinking of (threadbare sounds about right), the last time i was there, they grilled my prime rib - and grilled it to charred status. I have never in my life been anywhere that a place would put prime rib on the grill. Clearly they had no more of the temp that i requested (medium) and thought they could short cut it. Most will tell you they are out of that temp. And because I had eaten a few bites, trying (and then failing to deal with it), they refused to refund, to give me a new dinner, basically do anything other than make me feel as if I was trying to scam them. The waitress felt bad, but she said there was nothing she could do. No problem, I just will never, ever go near that place again.

Never had a bad prime rib at Snyder's. There isn't another Snyder's restaurant in the Balto. area that I am aware of. It is a shame that you had such a negative experience. Generally, the restaurant is good to okay. It isn't going to be outstanding or anything over and above ordinary. Just a decent neighborhood-type place. FoiGras

I concur with your assessment. "Decent" is about right.
