What's happened at Test Kitchen?

Went to Test Kitchen about a month ago and raved - great concept perfectly executed. Was looking forward to gourmet North African last Sunday night there but we received a message late Saturday evening - reservation cancelled, because we are "filming". Very disappointed and very rude on their part - not a good way to treat customers. Does anyone have any insight into what's happened to them - they were just about perfect previously.

  1. That sucks. You should tell that sucks. To cancel a reservation the night before? Ask them how they like last minute cancellations. Did they offer you anything as a concession?

    Meanwhile Alain Giraud is cooking there at the end of the week and the weekend.

      Yep. Got my reservations for Giraud Friday night. Will report back. Very excited about this one.

        No concession offered and a very terse message. Would have been more sympathetic if they had explained and like Dommy would be willing to sacrifice a night there if they keep it going longer - but preferably with a little more notice.

      2. We also had booked for last Sunday's North African dinner,
        the menu looked great. They cancelled so that a director they wanted
        to film their proposed reality show could work w/ them on Sunday.
        Was told they would re-schedule the dinner.

        1. Yeah, it was around twitter, when they noted the last minute change. I'm sorry you were put off, like you I've nothing but GREAT experiences at Test Kitchen. It's been the ONLY place in recent memory where we returned two nights in a ROW! Then went back a few weeks later...

          However, in my quick chats with the Mixologists, Management and Staff everytime I've been there... Its all been extremely overwhelming and since the clock is ticking on their time there... They are trying to keep all their options open. For me, if what they are doing will mean they might extend it one or more month, then I'd be willing to give up my seat for one night.

              As of this Monday, the end of the month... But it's still REALLY fuzzy as to whether they will continue at a different place or at all...

          2. i am going on one of the nights called Savore Cuisine because i thought the menu looked good. there is no specific chef tied to this night like the others listed on their website. does anyone know what that means exactly?? thanks for any insight!
