Boston University area lunch recs

bobygee Nov 2, 2010 03:23 PM

Will be visiting BU on Saturday and need several reasonably priced restaurant recs for lunch - a good burger, mediterranean, interesting sandwiches, BBQ. Please no pizza or italian. Recommendations are very appreciated. Thanks.

Directly across from West Campus are choices that include UBurger for hamburgers. There's also one in Kenmore Sq. Also at West Campus is Brown Sugar for really good Thai.

More upscale but not really pricy is Eastern Standard in Kenmore. Also Petit Robert if you want reasonable French at a fairly low price point.

There isn't much BBQ of note in Boston but most anything else in the world can be found up Commonwealth Avenue into Allston.

    Eastern Standard
528 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215

    Brown Sugar Cafe
1033 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02215

To clarify, most of the interesting places in Allston are on or near Brighton Ave, which splits off Commonwealth at a spot called Packards Corner, just beyond the Star Market.

In particular, a place called Garlic N Lemons, near the corner of Brighton and Harvard, will cover both the Mediterranean and interesting sandwich options. The spicy chicken shwarma on saj is heavenly.

The last thing I want is to get in the middle of one of this board's BBQ debates, but one of those few places of note is Soulfire, which is BU-adjacent.

Also West Campus Japonnaise Bakery has interesting sandwiches and pastry and coffee/bubble tea. Second Brown Sugar too.

BU's "campus" is large and long, stretching up along Comm. Ave. There are a lot of choices around, it depends where you want to stop for lunch.
