I have read all the great pizza recs for Tampa (and have tried and loved many ) and was wondering if anyone knows of any pizza joints that are on par with either a Paci's or a Pizzaiolo Bavaro across the Bay?

I'm interested to know. If you like chicago style, there is a Cappy's on 1st and 29th just north of central, good grub. I've been ruined forever though, Wood-Fired on Bearss is truly excellent. Went with a group of friends the other night (all foodies, one a head chef, and another who had worked in pizza restaurants for nearly a decade, both of which thought it was among the best if not the best they'd ever had) we all split 5 different small pies. Wow that place is something special. Andy and Bill got me hooked on the Pistachio, and it's still my favorite of the 6 I've tried to date, but everything I've ever had there has been really tasty. The prosciutto/arugula pie was the Chef's favorite and the carnivore with the thin sliced meatballs was also really popular.

I used to live in Sem Heights and heard all the raves when Cappy's came there--tried it a few times and didn't really care for it. I love both Paci's and Pizzaiolo Bavaro though they are different animals. And as I work in downtown Tampa, they are thankfully both an option for me.
I'll give the Cappy's in St Pete a try though.
        Thanks!
