Mexican chorizo in MHV

Anyone have a good source for Mexican chorizo? I'm specifically looking for the finely ground chorizo that can be mixed with scrambled eggs, imparting a reddish-orange look to the eggs. Looking in Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Kingston area. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I realize that this thread is two years old, but there is good news to report.

I have now found exactly what I was looking for, at BMF (Best Mexican Foods) http://www.bestmexicanfoods.com/ located in Middletown, NY. It is listed as chorizo, pork, soft, bmf, and can be purchased in a case of 12 packages of 15 oz each. Great stuff...

Their website is also a good source for other Mexican foodstuffs.

Why not try making it yourself. Its as easy as making hamburger and its always fresh. I tend to get my ground pork in a Chinese butcher(it tends have more fat and courser ground than supermarket ground pork). Google Mexican Choriso for ingrediants which can be purchased at your Mexican market.

Already tried and failed, miserably, at making my own chorizo. I know when it's time to buy, versus time to make.

Did you try the Associated Supermarket in Newburgh, over by Target?

You could try Fleisher's (Kingston) chorizo. It's a bit fatty and would definitely give the desired effect.
