SD Restaurant Bucket List

I'm moving from SD to Tacoma, WA and am making my restaurant bucket list - places to eat before I go. What would be on your bucket list?

I have not been to Pizza Port for a long time but recently had lunch there while on a bike ride.
I never thought much of their pizza but we a had Pizza Carlsbad and it was pretty good. Nice toppings thick crust and cooked right. Also had a Revelations belgian ale that was awesome.
I can't really think of a place good enough in S.D. to warrant placing on a bucket list.
Those would all be in other cities. There are some regional things like Indian, Pho and mexican, but I have had better mexican elsewhere.

Those all sound great! A lot of mexican food on here - I haven't had any good mexican food up there so this is a great reminder to eat up now!

Fake Name - You are right, here are a few:

Urban Solace - we went for the Bluegrass Brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We had 7 people and that pushed their limits without a reservation but they sat us in about 30 minutes (earlier than the estimate they gave us). Here is what we had:
The Buttermilk Cinnamon Roll with Butter Pecan Sauce - delicious, two for the table fed 6 adults & 1 child.
Southern Fried Pickles - I could take them or leave them, the buttermilk dressing was great though.
Roasted Pork-Loin Sandwich, Caramelized Fennel, Arugula, Fontina Cheese, Grain Mustard, Egg Bun - outstanding. I was concerned about it being dry to which the waiter replied pointing out the mustard. Then I was concerned it would be too mustardy, but it wasn't. The pork was very juicy. One problem, the menu said it came with sweet potato fries but it came with regular fries. They didn't let us know when we ordered or give us any other option, which was too bad.
Kitchen Sink Biscuits 'n Gravy: Sausage, Brown Sugar Slab Bacon and Two Fried Eggs - very rich and heavy but tasty.
Belly Benny: House Biscuit, Braised Niman Ranch Pork Belly, Poached Fresh Eggs, Smoked Ancho Chili Hollandaise - my friend had this and said it had an awkward after taste, a little like Chinese Five Spice, which is understandably out of place in this dish.

Cafe Chloe - again, there for Sunday Brunch. No waiting but a tiny table. Here is what we ate:
Poached Eggs with Wild Mushrooms & Sage-Truffle Beurre Blanc - I don't get mushrooms at home because one of the two of us won't eat them so this was heavenly to me. Simple but so well prepared and the flavors so well balanced. I need to learn to poach eggs now cause I will miss this dish.
Steak & Frites with Port Butter and Salad - again, simple and classic. The steak was tender and well seasoned.
I also had tea and they initially brought me a cup when all others had pots but when I asked for a pot they apologized and brought one out. Not sure what that was all about!

Searsucker - we had dinner for 6. I couldn't make online reservations but was able to make a reservation on Sunday for the next Wednesday at 7pm without a problem. Others have said the hostesses are snotty but we didn't have that problem. We ate a lot, so here it goes:

Apps - Pretzel, Ham + Honey, Cheddar Puffers, Duck Fat Fries, Short Ribs - these were all good but not great. The Marrow with sea salt and carmelized onions was GREAT!

Sides - Fried Brusselsprouts (I didn't try them cause they had walnuts in them but others really liked them), Jalapeno-chorizo “Corn Off the Cob” (GREAT, I will make this at home), Bacon Grits and Grilled Asparagus (both were simple, delicious, and expertly prepared).

Main - Beef Cheeks with Goat Cheese Dumplings (the dumplings were the highlight. The ceeks were tender and tasty, if a little salty. You must like the texture of cheeks to enjoy this though, they are rather fatty). Port Butt: Grilled Peach + Bacon Emulsion (the evenings winner, really delicious).

Dessert - The “King” Sundae (we got 2, one was great the other had over-ripe bananas in it. The bacon/caramel combo was a big hit!) Milk Chocolate Mousse (very rich and decadent, but nothing super special). Doughnuts and Chocolate (not my fave but others loved them). Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta (I didn't try this cause it had mango in it but those who did try it loved it. Very pretty presentation).

That is it for those 3 restaurants!

Its funny that you mention 5 rolled tacos - whenever my brother or my friend Eric come back to town, we literally go on a tour of San Diego taco shops to get rolled tacos, carne asada burritos, etc.

To add to the discussion, I'd say either the breakfast special burrito or the carne asada burrito at Las Brasas Taco Shop, and the taco adobada at Mexican Fiesta. And definitely rolled tacos from any hole-in-the-wall taco shop.
