Staub Coq Au Vin vs. Oval French Oven

NotJuliaChild Nov 1, 2010 06:48 PM

Would someone please explain to me the difference between the two?

The Coq Au Vin has a rooster knob. The French Oven does not.

What else?

the size... the one with the pretty knob is about 5 qt., I think. the others w/ round knobs are smaller and larger sizes.

The ones I'm looking at are both 6 quarts.

It must be something other than size.

      Shape, perhaps?

The Staub Coq au Vin with the rooster knob is a special edition. The special part is the rooster knob which can be bought seperately. The Coq au Vin is about 12 inches the oval cocotte is about 13 inches. About 5 3/4 qts. vs 6 3/4 qts. The Coq au Vin should be marked 31 the cocotte 33.

      Hope this helps.
