Lamb Hot Pot - Shuàn yáng ròu

Just got back from Beijing and enjoyed a great version of lamb hot pot, aka Shuàn yáng ròu. The dipping sauce was a delicious blend of sesame paste, scallions, garlic, sesame oil, chili paste and some other ingredients I could not identify.

Are there any places in SGV that serve this?

last time i was there, deerfield garden at atlantic and garvey had a veyr simple but good version. China Islamic doesn't have shuan yang rou, as a hotpot dish. they have several stews and soups with lamb.

next to deerfield garden, there's xiao fei yang, aka little sheep that has a verison of shuan yang rou but very gussied up. Deerfield garden is more liek what i had in beijing a million yeras ago.

Little Sheep has changed its name to Hot Pot, Hot Pot! The owner said that the original franchise was not keeping up its quality and not investing, so he opted out of his franchise agreement. He has the same chefs and the same food - I go there quite often and have not noticed any change in the food.

In any event, try Northern Chinese (San Gabriel) or China Islamic (Rosemead).
