A halloween lunch at the Witchery , fantastic celebration of Scottish produce.

    1. I've been wanting to go there! And that all just looks so gorgeous and delicious.

      Give us some details.

The Witchery never seems to get much of a mention in recent Edinburgh boards, but I always used to enjoy going there when I was in town and wanted a romantic evening out: is it still worth recommending?

IMO, sped98 has a perfect record, on this and another board, in reporting on high level dining in the north of the UK. If Alan says it was good, that'd be good enough for me.

Beautiful romantic location but with very average food as far as I'm concerned at a premium price due to the publicity around it. My meal last time comprised of effectively a fish finger on a plate scattered with cress followed by a mushy fish pie.

I'm not sure how it compares to historically since I know that it's been open for years and I'm only a young pup (I like to think!) but my feeling would be that the standards have either slipped or the quality of the competition has improved.
